Yep, it's my re-recording of Robert Prince's original soundtrack to the video game, Doom II. Remember, with was done 14 years ago, and the guitars were recorded with a Line 6 POD XTLive. It still sounds pretty good for digital recording tech from way back then.</span></p><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Oqq1E6szakg" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe>Dimaension Xhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11515317626690822365noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-505337625045782981.post-41191314713051806582023-05-15T04:52:00.004-07:002023-05-15T04:54:20.365-07:00Astral Wanderings by Dimaension XAstral Wanderings by Dimaension X - a new minimal progressive doom metal mini album.

It's mostly done in a style best described as blackened drone doom metal. Each video features lyrics, taken directly from the poem. Here's the first video, and the others are available at my YouTube page. This first video features the introduction and parts 1 through 3, and the next videos will each feature one part each.<br /></p><p> </p>

Just one long song, divided into several parts.
I figured it's time to visit my roots and go back to some more "fun" sounding music, instead of trying to drag out more doom and drone music. And of course I started listening to Frank Zappa again, so voila.
I also listened to the very first Devo album all the way through, and decided I needed some short snippets of Devo in my new music, too. So the segues between the 5 parts are short spurts of Devo songs.
Performed by Dimaension X.
Recorded & produced by Dave Lanciani.
Music composed by Dave Lanciani/Dimaension X.
Extra bits and pieces of music by Mark Mothersbaugh, Bob Mothersbaugh, Gerald Casale.
There's also a not-so-hidden snippet of Aldo Nova's song "Fantasy". See if you can find it.
Dedicated to Frank Zappa and Eddie Van Halen.
BTW, all the images were created by me, using Photoshop.</span></p>

This is (probably) the last of the drone series I've been working on this past year, and could be one of the last pieces of music I complete this year. It was recorded with my SX VTG Furrian Telecaster copy (all stock, single coil pickups) thru my Line 6 POD Go, with a little help from my Digitech FreQout pedal, and An Earthquaker Devices Avalanche Run and Transmisser.
Time for a bit of a break, and then time to start working on some new music.</span></span><span face="Roboto, Arial, sans-serif" style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: #f9f9f9; color: #030303; display: inline; float: none; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: pre-wrap; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;"> </span></p>

Part 2 of the new UthrWurld series. Experimental minimal drone-doom.
I played more "live" drums on this one, with my AKAI MPD218, to get a much more "real" feel in the percussion. Also using the SSD5 drum sampler (Steven Slate drums - it's a FREE download!), which sounds great.
Performed by Dimaension X.
Recorded & produced by Dave Lanciani.</span></span></span></span></span></p>
